I have always been a competitive swimmer it started with year around swim team, and then high school swimming, it is no surprise that I now coaches a master swim team.  I discovered cycling in 2006,  I bought my first bike around my seventeenth birthday… 600 dollars and a few cents I remember coming home and my dad telling me that it was the biggest waste of my money, that I had worked hard for it and that I was never going to use the bike. It’s amusing because now I bring home bikes that cost ten times as much and he is all excited for me" I guess it was a good investment after all."

Running has never been my strong point, I ran cross country and track in high school but it was mostly to stay in shape and look at the girls on the team. I have a long way until I win marathons but I am working at it…

Well this has led me to triathlons, since I was already doing all the sports separately! What a great idea to combine all of them! After a few road triathlon seasons I quickly got bored of the roads and a good friend told me about Xterra races: 1 mile swim, 18 miles mountain bike, and a 6 miles trail run. One race was all it took to get me hooked. It’s an endurance sport that requires your brain to work none stop through the race, avoiding roots, dogging trees.

My first two seasons went awesome I was awarded Regional Champion 2009, 2010 which led me both times to national in Ogden, Utah where I came in fourth in my age group and 75th overall both years! What were the odds of that happening? The 2011 season has been a turning point in my career; I stood on the overall podium to most of the Northwest races. I won my age group at Nationals and got 31st overall and 8th amateur to cross the line, earning a trip to Worlds in Maui, HI.

My first world championship has definitely left me podium hungry for the next seasons to come.
